Makara  Sankranti 

 On the second of February, 2009 Rathsaptami was Celebrated by the Hindu Communityin Goa ,Which mark the end of the festive  season of Haldi Kumkum , that beings with Makar Sanskrati celebrated every year on January 14. it is intresting to note that althrouh the Hindu religious festivles are celebrated on the basis of of lunar and solar calender, and therfore changes the date every year, Makara Sankranti as a fix date however, the date of rathsaptami changes according to the Hindu Calender and could have 10, 15 or 22 days difference between the two.

the Sankranti of any month is considered auspicious ai it signifies a fresh start however Makar Sankranti is celebrated in the month of poush w0hen t0he sun passes through the winter solspice, from the tropic of cancer to the topic of capricon.
